Dominique Zygmont
Head Corporate Affairs South East-Europe, Syngenta

Together with a team of corporate affairs executives, he is responsible for external affairs and public policy in 15 countries in South East Europe. He directs the engagement with stakeholders from agriculture, politics, academia, and society, and builds campaigns and partnerships in the fields of farming, food, innovation, and corporate responsibility. He also heads the media relations as well as internal communications programs in the region.

Prior to this, Dominique D. Zygmont led the public affairs agenda of Syngenta in Switzerland. Before joining Syngenta, he was a consultant at an international public relations firm in Zurich focusing on creating value for companies in change and crisis situations. Other prior experiences include corporate communications for a bank and a large infrastructure provider. He also worked as a journalist in print, radio and TV.
Field Operation Lead Monsanto Romania

In his role, Eugen Diaconu is coordinating in Romania all the corn and oil seed rape production fields. Monsanto Romania is the largest Romanian corn seeds exporter, supplying EU and non-EU countries.

Eugen Diaconu has started his career with Monsanto in 2001, developing the sales and marketing department. After 3 years, he joined the Seed Supply team, offering great support for expanding the corn multiplication sector. In order to secure the yield on seed growers’ level, Eugen Diaconu paid lot of efforts to increase irrigated acreages in South, East and North-East of Romania.

Dr. Ralph Scorza
Research Horticulturist and Lead Scientist, US Department of Agriculture

Ralph Scorza is a Research Horticulturist and Lead Scientist for the Genetic Improvement of Fruit Crops Research Unit at the USDA-ARS Appalachian Fruit Research Station, Kearneysville, West Virginia.  He received a BS in agronomy and MS degree in Fruit Crops both at the University of Florida and received his Ph.D. in genetics and plant breeding at Purdue University in 1979. The broad objectives of his research program at the USDA are to develop stone fruit (Prunus) germplasm with improved fruit quality, resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, and improved tree growth habits for high yielding, mechanically integrated orchard systems.  His breeding program combines classical and molecular breeding approaches.

Dr. Scorza is the recipient of the Flemming Award for "Exceptionally creative and useful research and leadership in the area of stone fruit breeding and genetics" the ARS-NAA Senior Research Scientist of the Year Award for “The development of important new knowledge and leadership in the creative integration of basic and applied research and for the practical application of innovative approaches to tree fruit improvement,” and has been co-recipient of three Secretary of Agriculture Honor Awards. He is a recipient of the Foreign Agricultural Service Distinguished International Service Award and the National Peach Council Carroll R. Miller Award.  He has authored over 200 research publications, nine biotechnology and fruit variety patents and is a Fellow of the American Society for Horticultural Science.

Macy Merriman
Senior Government Affairs Manager, Europe, DuPont Pioneer

Macy Merriman leads the Government Affairs activities in Europe for Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business. Pioneer is the world’s leading developer and supplier of advanced seed genetics.

Merriman has been with Pioneer in Europe since 1994 in a variety of marketing and management roles. Since 2001, he has helped to develop and promote Pioneer’s vision of agriculture to regional, European and international stakeholders. He represents Pioneer to the European Union institutions, and participates in industry groups including EuropaBio and the European Seed Association, where he has chaired several committees. He is a member of Pioneer’s European Leadership Team.

Merriman studied economics, history and languages in the United States and Europe, and graduated first in his class at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, from which he earned his MBA. He was raised on a family tree farm, and manages family forestry operations in Belgium

Elena Tatomir

Elena Tatomir is the General Manager of the Directorate for Agricultural Policies and Strategies, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development since July 2012, in charge with the implementation of both EU agricultural policies and national agricultural policies. Between 2010 and 2012, Mrs. Tatomir worked as counselor for the General Directorate for Fishing - Managing Authority for FOP (Fisheries Operational Programme), in the same Ministry, managing the projects that are receiving grants from the European Fisheries Fund. Moreover, Mrs. Tatomir received her doctoral degree in 2011, in Agricultural and Forestry Sciences (Agronomy), from the University of Agronomic Science and Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest
